On Wednesday, May 29th, 15:00-16:00 CET, we are hosting an online COMMUNIA Salon to take stock of the state of e-lending in Europe and discuss solutions.

Libraries have long played a crucial role in ensuring broad public access to knowledge and culture. Today, digital access to reliable information is more important than ever. And yet libraries can’t lend out digital books under the same conditions as physical books. What are the specific legal barriers that prevent libraries from fulfilling their public service mission in the digital environment? How do we overcome these obstacles?

A forthcoming COMMUNIA policy paper shed light on these questions. We will discuss the insight from this publications before we take questions from the audience during a Q&A session.

Panelists

  • Stephen Wyber (Director External Affairs, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions)
  • Konrad Gliściński (Researcher, Centrum Cyfrowe/Jagiellonian University)
  • Moderator: Teresa Nobre (Legal Director, COMMUNIA)
